In mid-December, the Port Arthur City Council accepted the report related to the presentation of goods to the Second Contingent.
December 28, 1914:
Goods purchased by the two cities for presentation to the Second Contingent are being forwarded to Major Wayland in Winnipeg so that they reach their intended recipients. This gift included safety razors for each of the men. The Major is also instructed to buy blankets for Junior Officers, also paid for by the two cities.
In Fort William, Mayor Young was elected to another term for 1915, though he would soon return to military service. In Port Arthur, only five of ten councillors were re-elected, and Mayor Oliver would cede his role to Mayor James Patrick Mooney.
