“Sgt. W. J. Thompson, nephew of J. W. Thompson of east Francis St west Fort William, arrived home Saturday (Aug. 2) after almost 4 years overseas. He was wounded at Vimy Ridge on April 14 1917 and later served on the hospital staff at #1 Canadian Hospital, Bramshot, England.” (Fort William Daily Times Journal August 5 1919 page 3)
